Security of Sena Chief Bal Thackeray beefed up

Mumbai, Dec 16 (UNI) The Security of Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray has been beefed up following alleged terror threat to his life, a report here said.

However, the Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order) Arup Patnaik today neither denied nor confirmed whether any such reports have been received from Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Speaking to mediapersons here this afternoon, Mr Patnaik said,''We have to got several inputs from IB, which are so confidential that we cannot share them with mediapersons.'' On being asked about the enhanced security arrangement made for the Shiv Sena Supremo, Mr Patnaik said he has been provided with Z+ (Zplus) security currently, which will continue in future also.

Elaborating on the security arrangement, he said the review committee reviews the security arrangments of VIPs on monthly basis. On that basis, security is enhanced or withdrawn of the VIPs'.

Talking about December 23 rally of Congress at Shivaji Park in Dadar that would be attended by Party President Sonia Gandhi, he said ''We have made elaborate security arrangements for the programme and it will on go as usual.'' UNI ST PM SB KN1903
