RLD undecided about alliance in coming UP assembly polls
Lucknow, Dec 16 (UNI) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), a major ally of the ruling Samajwadi Party-led coalition government in Uttar Pradesh, is yet to decide on its alliance partners for the coming assembly polls in the state.
''There are discussions with the SP leaders on the seat adjustment but nothing can be said at this moment,'' RLD supremo Ajit Singh told reporters here today.
He said his party will decide the alliance strategy after a meeting of the party legislators very soon.
Commenting on the law and order situation in the state, the RLD leader asked, ''How can you improve the situation when the government was providing gunners to politicians and students who are known for their criminal background.'' '' The scenario in the entire country was similar where the criminals are being provided with the gunners,'' he added.
Referring to the recent face-off between the state government and the Lucknow University(LU) authorities over the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations for holding students union polls, he said the governemnt and LU authorities should evolve a common rule for holding the elections but students with the criminal background should not be allowed to participate.
