Pulse polio campaign in HP on Jan 7 and Feb 11: CS

Shimla, Dec 16 (UNI) The first phase of pulse polio in Himachal Pradesh will be held on January seven and second phase on February 11 next year, state Chief Secretary S S Parmar today said.

Presiding over the State-level Steering Committee meeting on Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign here, he stressed the need for involving panchayati raj institutions, yuva and mahila mandals, women health associations and social workers for making the campaign a success.

Mr Parmar said the health workers would also move from house to house for next two to three days after the pulse polio days of January seven and February to ensure that all the left-out children in the state were administered the drops.

In rural areas, it would mainly be a booth based activity on the first day and house-to-house activity on the subsequent days till all the left out children were administrated polio drops, he said.

He said in urban areas, the state administration would form special booths and mobile teams to administer drops to the children.

Calling upon various organisation and panchayats to work in coordination to make the scheme a success, he said this would help in eradicating the disease from the state.

Mr Parmar said 5,823 booths would be set up throughout the state and each booth would be manned by four people, two technical people from Health and Ayurvedic department, while the remaining two would be from other departments.
