Political opportunism responsible for separatism: Sudharshan

Jaipur, Dec 16 (UNI) RSS Chief K S Sudharshan today charged the political class with practising opportunism and held it responsible for the emergence of seperatism in the country.

He said the nation had to pay a heavy price with separatist forces rearing their heads, posing a grave threat to the integrity of the country due to the crass opportunism practised by the politcial class.

He was talking at Vijay Diwas organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Purva Sainik Parishad at Chindava township in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan.

Mr Sudharshan said the armed forces in the country were always kept aloof from the evils of castism and communalism. He said now some politicians were trying to create a divide in them also on the lines of religion and caste.

Referring to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's recent statement that minorities have the first right over resources, he said the definition of minorities had been twisted to suit political goals.

Mr Sudharshan also assailed the religious-based survey conducted by the Justice Rajindar Sachar committee, saying encouragement based on religion posed a grave threat to the nation.

The function was organised to honour the relatives of martyrs and ex-servicemen.
