Pension of freedom fighters increased

New Delhi, Dec 16: The government has increased the basic pension for freedom fighters and their spouses by Rs 2330 per month from October this year.

According to Home Ministry, in October 2006, the basic pension of freedom fighters and spouses of deceased freedom fighters was enhanced by Rs 2,330 per month, so that the total pension, inclusive of dearness relief, becomes Rs 10,001 per month.

The date of giving effect to this enhancement is October 2 to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, founder of Satyagraha movement and the Father of the Nation.
