Dubai, Dec 16 (UNI) A plumber from Kerala was among three Asian workers who died while attempting to clean a deep drainage channel in the Qatari capital of Doha.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon when Ajay Kumar first descended into the drain.

When he failed to return, two other workers went down in search only to get drowned in the rapidly flowing water, local reports said.

Rescue teams from the civil defence department fished out the bodies of Ajaykumar and one of the Nepalis around 1530 hrs local time. The third body was recovered late in the evening, but the identity could not be ascertained.

This is the second tragedy of its kind in the city this year. On April 19, five Asian workers of a contracting firm were killed in similar circumstances while involved in the construction of drainage in the area.
