No compromise on quality of roads-Nitish

Patna, Dec 16 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the government would not compromise with the quality of roads being constructed in the state for improvement of communication network.

Inaugurating the upgradation work on 29 different roads in Patna, Mr Kumar said the government was determined to make progress in all sectors including health and education. He said the law and order situation was also improving in rapidity .

He also announced rewards for good work and punishment for bad work for engineers involved in the road construction.

Construction of roads would be an effective step towards solution of the problem in Patna.

Making scathing attacks to his political rivals without taking name and party, Mr Kumar said that one of the opposition parties was out fake data of killings in Bihar to malign the NDA government's one year rule. He said the same party which had given a notice for holding debate on law and order issue in the state assembly backed out at the end.

He referred to the killing of history professor Papiya Ghosh saying the Patna police had solved the case and arrested the culprits. He said it had become so sensitive issue that even the Prime Minister took stock of the situation and commended the local police for solving the high profile case.

Taking notice of the dharna being staged nearby by some people on demand for providing job to them, Mr Kumar said evey one had right to express his/her feelings and asked the administration there should be no inconvenience to them. He, however, added that action would be initiated in case such people turned violent.

Bihar Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav said that the roads of the state capital would be made of national standard.

He said road construction had been taken up all over Bihar but the roads of Patna were on the top of the governments agenda and this upgradation work of 29 roads would be completed within 21 months.
