Mukhi conters Sheila's claims
New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi today gave a point by point criticism of the achievements enumerated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit yesterday while completing eight years in office.
Highlighting various fronts on which the state government had failed, he said the biggest gift to the people of the city from the Sheila Dikshit government was ''price rise''.
Prices had hit the roof in almost all spheres, from eatables to fuel to construction and land, he said.
Privatisation of electricity distribution had proved to be a failure, about 50 per cent of the population did not get safe drinking water and sealing and demolition had brought trade and business to a halt, he said. Liquor was freely available even as security of women and law and order situation had gone from bad to worse and unauthorised colonies had yet to be regularised, Dr Mukhi added.
If blackmarketeers were ruling the roost, corruption was also rampant, he added.
Yesterday, Ms Dikshit had asserted that there had been an improvement in all areas of administration, specially the water and power situation.
Government had achieved an improvement in the power and water situation in the capital over the last one year despite a rising population, she said.
