ICI launches new revolutionary interior paint

Bangalore, Dec 16: India is the second country in the world to see the launch of a revolutionary emulsion paint that reflects up to twice as much light, globally patented by the ICI paints.

Developed out of Lumitec technology, the paint called Dulux light and space emulsion created a pleasant sense of brightness and openness in homes, ICI India Paints division Marketing Manager Vikrant Khanna told newspersons here today.

The new interior paint was first introduced by ICI paints in London in March this year. After the initial success, the company decided to take it globally, with India emerging the second country to adopt the new technology, he said, adding that the paint would be manufactured at the Thane plant of ICI India.

Mr Khanna said small spaces have become a reality for many living in cities and the new paint would address the problem of light and space. Besides enhanced light reflection, the paint also made rooms feel more spacious, he added.

He said ICI was one of the fastest growing paint companies in the country, targetting a 25 per cent growth this year as against the market growth of around 12 to 14 per cent. The total market in the country for emulsion paints was around 40 million litres, of which ICI had a share of around 24 per cent.
