I won't be chief ministerial candidate: Dullo
Jalandhar, Dec 16 (UNI) Punjab Congress president Shamsher Singh Dullo today said he was not in the race as the party's chief ministerial candidate during the ensuing assembly elections in the state.
Stating that he would contest the polls if the party high command desired so, Mr Dullo told reporters here that there was no factionalism or infighting in the party's Punjab unit over any issue, including the leadership and all party ranks were united to work for the Congress' cause under Ms Sonia Gandhi.
He said party candidates would be chosen among the leaders who enjoyed the support and goodwill of masses and the local party workers.
He said that winnability would be the criterion in selection of the candidates and on the count, if needed, the party might deny tickets to weak sitting MLAs.
Mr Dullo said the party would like to promote youth and women contestants if they qualify the winnability criterion.
The PCC chief said that ongoing Vikas Yatra had succeeded in mobilising the party cadres and attract the masses.
