Global AIDS meet in AP capital begins Dec 18

Hyderabad, Dec 16: The University of Hyderabad will organise an International Workshop on ''Defining the Future, HIV/AIDS, Next 25 years'' from December 18 to 20 at its campus in the city.

The workshop, jointly sponsored by the University and Department of Health and Human Services, US, is being organised on the occasion of 25 years of documentation of the first HIV/AIDS case and humanity's relentless battle against the scourge, Dr Julie L Gerberding, Director of Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, US - a renowned institute devoted to amelioration of distress due to infectious diseases in the world - will be the chief guest and deliver the inaugural address.

The focus of this workshop is to discuss the current technologies and define the future in prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS and evolve strategies to control the spread of the disease.

More than 200 delegates, mainly clinicians, from different parts of the country will be participating in the workshop, a press release said here today.
