DHBVN formulates plan to boost power distribution

Chandigarh, Dec 16: The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has formulated a Rs 1,200 crore plan to strengthen the power distribution system in the next four years.

A DHBVN spokesman said there its a proposal for setting up of 106 sub-stations of 33 KV level to augment the capacity of 50 existing sub-stations of this level during the next four years.

He said the rehabilitation of 500 feeders of 11 KV level have also been planned during the same period for strengthening the distribution system to a considerable level, which would be sufficient even to meet the future demand.

The spokesman said that the complete power distribution system in a number of towns is being renovated under different schemes so as to increase the reliablity of power supply.

He said in order to make power supply system interruption free, the Nigam had set up 15,000 power distribution transformers of different capacity during the past six years.

The Nigam has planned to instal about 24,000 new distribution tranfsormers in the system and replace 1,500 existing transformers of lower capacity with those of higher capacity.

The DHBVN has sent schemes for each district valueing about Rs 100 crore to the Centre for approval under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikarn Yojna to strengthen power distribution system in rural areas.
