Deep purple to perform in Bangalore on Dec 17

Bangalore, Dec 16: Popular rock band Deep Purple will give their third performance in India here tomorrow in one of the biggest live concerts ever to rock the city in recent times.

The popular brand, which believed in unity through music, would play some of its most popular tracks, including classics such as 'Highway Star', 'Smoke on the Water', 'Fireball', 'Black Night', 'Women from Tokyo' and 'Hush'.

Talking to newspersons here today, band members Vocalist Ian Gillan, Guitarist Steve Morse, Bassist Roger Glover, also the producer of the band, Keyboard player Don Airey and Drummer Ian Paice said they were happy to be in India again.

Referring to their exposure to Indian music through Sitar maestro Ravishankar, they said they appreciated the physical and spiritual dedication of Indian musicians.

The band, formed in 1968, broke up between 1976 and 1984, before regrouping and enthralling the world through their music, which the band members said was still evolving.

The band was brought to India by event managers DNA Networks, with the key presenter being Royal Challenge along with Nokia, Kingfisher Airlines, Pepsi, Reliance and VH1.
