Chandigarh, Dec 16 (UNI) A 40-year-old woman of Sangrur has been successfully treated for a complex Aortic Aneurysm at the Grecian super-speciality hospital, Mohali.

This extremely delicate surgery of repairing an aneurysm or more commonly termed 'weakness of Aorta wall' right at the root of aorta was performed by well-known surgeon Dr Shivpreet Singh Samra on Ms Lovely Rana. The complexity of this aneurysm, which existed at the root of aorta originating from the heart, made the operation much more difficult to handle.

According to Dr Samra Aneurysm, more commonly known as a weakness in the wall of Aorta, the main blood carrying pipe, originating from heart and passing through chest and abdomen is a potentially deadly ailment if not handled properly. In Ms Rana's case, however, along with the usual risk of rupture, this aneurysm was causing aortic valve leakage exerting pressure thereby on coronary arteries, he added.

The surgery included an aortic root replacement which included replacement of the ascending Aorta, Aortic valve and re-implanting of coronary arteries, the doctor said.

An otherwise technically demanding surgical procedure though, it bore hundred per cent result with the patient recovering fully.
