All India police shooting competition at Bhanu ITB centre

Chandigarh, Dec 16 (UNI) The 50th All India Police Duty Meet Shooting competition would be hosted by the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at basic training centre at Bhanu located in Panchkula district from December 26 to 30.

All the Paramilitary and State Police Organisations would participate in this keenly fought competition that would test the shooting skills in the handling of 9mm Browning pistol/0.32mm revolver, 9mm carbine machine gun and 7.62mm rifle.

ITBP DIG Mohan Chandra Bhatt will be the organising secretary of this high profile competition.

Mr Bhatt said here today that elaborate arrangements at the Basic Training Centre to accommodate competitors from all the Police and Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMFs) of the country had been made. The competition is aimed at giving a fillip to the aiming and weapon handling skills of personnel.

Under Mr Bhatt's guidance a high-tech electronic firing range is being constructed at this centre that would not only be used for this meet but would be used for future training of ITBP and other forces located in the Chandigarh/Panchkula area.

This meet assumes significance, keeping in view the rapidly changing security scenario where sharp shooting skills of the security personnel would be needed to put paid the nefarious designs of anti-national elements, Mr Bhatt added.

Various national and international level shooters belonging to various forces would participate in the competition.

Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai would inagurate meet.
