Advocates abstain from court proceeding for second day
Chennai, Dec 16 (UNI) Practising advocates of Madras High Court, abstained from attending the court proceedings for the second day today in protest against the suspension of two Judicial Officers in Tirunelveli.
However, some of the courts functioned with Government Advocates and some other advoates attending to the cases.
Following a decision at the extraordinary general body meeting of Madras High Court Advocates Association, the advocates had abstained from attending the court proceedings from yesterday afternoon.
The advocates requested Chief Justice A P Shah to constitute a High Level Committee consisting one judicial officer to probe the alleged incident that took place on December 8 to bring out the truth.
They also demanded action against the concerned police officials for giving a false report and misleading the Chief Justice.
Based on a police report regarding the visit of Principal District Judge Naganathan and Judicial Magistrate Nagaraj in the midnight of December 8, the two judicial officers were suspended from December 13 onwards.
