1.25 lakh families provided job under REGS

Bhopal, Dec 16: Since the rural employment guarantee scheme was launched in Madhya Pradesh on February 2 this year, 1.25 lakh families got stipulated 100 days employment creating 1340.18 lakh mandays of work.

Of the total 44.24 lakh job card holders in 18 districts covered under the scheme, 24.32 lakh families sought employment against which 23.39 lakh families were provided work, official sources said.

Total allocation under the scheme was Rs 1400 crore of which Rs 1102.35 crore had been spent so far. In all, 1,43,880 works were sanctioned of which 69,817 had been completed till November, while the remaining works were in progress.

The scheme had been launched in Balaghat, Badwani, Betul, Chhattarpur, Dhar, Dindori, Jhabua, Khandwa, Khargone, Mandla, Satna, Seoni, Shahdol, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Tikamgarh and Umaria districts.
