HC judges to probe into incident involving judicial officers

Chennai, Dec 15 (UNI) Chief Justice A P Shah today requested two judges of Madras High Court to go to Thirunelveli, enquire the Judicial officers and others to find out the facts of the incidents that took place on December eight, involving two judicial officers, now under suspension.

According to Registrar General, Chief Justice A P Shah has requested Mr Justice Dharma Rao Elipie and Mr Justice M Thanickachallam to go to Tirunelveli on December 18 and to enquire the judicial officers, advocates and police officers to find out the facts of the incident that took place in Tirunelveli on the midnight of December eight and in the early hours of December nine, involving K Naganathan, former Principal District Judge, now under suspension and G Nagaraj, formerly Judicial Magistrate-IV, now under suspension and submit a report.

The two judicial officers were suspended from December 13 onwards based on a police report.

Meanwhile, practising advocates of Madras High Court had boycotted the courts from this afternoon, condemning the act of the police in this issue.

Advocates led by Madras High Court Advocates Association President Paul Kanagaraj went round the court premises shouting slogans against the police and demanding action against the concerned police officers for giving a false report on the two judicial officers and also misleading the Chief Justice.

Paul Kanagaraj also appealed to the Chief Justice to constitute a High Level Committee, consisting one judicial officer to enquire into the alleged incident that took place on December eight.

He also said the boycott would continue tomorrow and the advocates would resume work on December 18, subject to the development in the issue.

Another group of advocates led by Vice Chairman of All India Bar Association S Prabhakaran also conducted an agitation in front of the Madras High court premises and on the busy NSC Bose Road, demanding action against the concerned police officers.
