Faisal Confesses about attending training camp in Pok

Mumbai, Dec 15 (UNI) Faisal Ataur Rahman Shaikh, one of the key accused in the 7/11 serial train blasts in the metroplis, has confessed before the police that he went to Muzaffarabad, Pok in January 2002 to attend a training camp, allegedly run by Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan.

In his confession given to the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), he disclosed that he had travelled from Delhi to Lahore by Samjhauta Express during January 2002. In Lahore, he stayed with Abdul Razak, an Indian hailing from Hyderabad and a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LET) worker, and was there for the five months.

After a few days, Razak sent him to a Muzaffarabad training camp of LeT, where he had underwent two days training. He also confessed that he attended a 2001 SIMI training camp at Pune, where they were briefed about the atrocities on the Muslims in Mumbai and Gujarat.

Out of the 13 accused in the serial blasts case, 11 had confessed to their involvement in the attack before the police. the confessions were mentioned in an sealed envelope, which was opened yesterday by the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court and the copies are made available to defence counsels.

The serial train blasts that rocked the first class compartments of Mumbai's Western Railway local trains during evening peak hour on July 11, killed 187 people and injured 817 others.

The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai police had filed a chargesheet containing 10,667 pages on November 30, exactly 142 days after the incident.

The Accused are: Kamal Ahamed Ansari, Dr Tanvir Ahmed Ansari, Mohd Faisal Shaikh, Ehtesham Siddiqui, Mohammad Majid Shafi, Shaikh alam Shaikh, Mohd Sajid Ansari, Abdul Wahid Shaikh, Muzzammil Shaikh, Soheil Mehmood Shaikh, Zamir Ahmad Shaikh, Naveed Hussain Khan and Asif Khan Junaid.
