Bihar Assembly adjourned following pandemonium
Patna, Dec 15 (UNI) Bedlam prevailed in the Bihar Assembly today with the Opposition demanding action against the humiliation of RJD member Pitambar Paswan and constitution of an all party committee to probe into the matter, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House after the Question hour.
The House plunged into noisy scenes soon after completion of the Question hour as the Opposition members trooped into the well in support of their demands.
Amid noisy scenes, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi tabled the details of income and expenditure for the period of July, August and September of the current fiscal.
Some other business was also taken up amid the chaos after which the House was adjourned even before taking up zero hour.
After the adjournment, the agitated Opposition under the leadership of Ms Rabri Devi sat on a dharna before the Speakers chamber outside the House in support of their demands.
Earlier, replying on behalf of the government, Bihar Energy Minister Vijendra Yadav said the vehicle of Saroj Paswan, son of Pitambar Paswan, RJD MLA, was checked at Rosera during routine checking and a fine of Rs one thousand was realised with due signature of the driver of the vehicle as insurance certificate was not produced.
The Minister also announced to get the matter probed by the Darbhanga zone's Inspector General and Commissioner and assured of producing the report within seven days.
The annoyed RJD members came into the well, demanding action against the concerned officer guilty of humilating Mr Paswan and said they would not allow ''domination by bureaucracy.'' Shouting slogans by thumping the government reporter's desk, the RJD members joined by other members of the Opposition said the members of the House should not be humiliated.
When the House assembled for the day, Mr Paswan demanding reply from the government and waving some papers came into the well and sat on a dharna.
He was joined by other members of his party and gradually the members of LJP, CPM, CPI(ML) too came to the well, demanding the governments reply on the matter suspending the enlisted business.
The members of the Treasury Benches, including Parliamentry Affairs Minister Ramashray Prasad Singh, appealed to the agitating members to resume their seats and assured of a reply on the issue after the Question hour.
The agibating members, however, continued their demonstration for over ten minutes and went back to their seats only after Leader of Opposition Rabri Devi asked them to resume their seats and allow the question hour to proceed.
