International award for Delhi police for law enforcement
New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Delhi police's efforts in reducing crime against women, particularly rape, have won it recognition from international quarters.
The International Association of Chiefs of police (IACP) in Washington in the US has awarded Delhi Police the prestigious 'Webber Seavey Award, 2006' for its community policing programme 'parivartan', which was launched by Delhi Lt Governor on August 29 last year.
The award was today presented to Delhi police Commissioner K K Paul in presence of senior officers of the PHQ by additional DCP/NW Sagar Preet Hooda, who recieevd it on behalf of Dr Paul on October 16 at Boston in the United States, a Delhi Police release said.
Named after chief of police Webber S Seavey, IACP's first president, over a century agao, the Webber Seavey award recognises innovative projects for quality law enforcement at the International level.
The 'Parivartan' programme has been appreciated for its innovative approach for prevention of crime against women, specially sexual assaults and molestation.
