Congress, Left are Anti-Labour: BJP
New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Lashing out at the UPA for being anti-labour, the BJP today said the Manmohan Singh Government had lost moral right to continue in power after its policies were criticised by a majority of the parties, including Left, Samajwadi and Rashtriya Janata Dal in Parliament.
"This government has come into minority after its own supporting parties were criticising its anti-labour, anti-farmer policies," BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said.
He said the Government must take note of the nation-wide strike by the Left Parties to protest against the policies, paralysing services, including air and rail, everywhere. "Its impact could be felt everywhere. There was total bandh in West Bengal." Holding the Left parties largely responsible for the present mess and anti-work stance of the Government, Mr Malhotra said these parties were merely expressing lip sympathy for labour and workers, while it was continuing its support to the UPA at the Centre.
These double standards would not work anymore and the Left parties must decide their stand. If they really think that the policies had failed to protect the worker's interest, they must withdraw support to the Government, he said.
Besides, they would also have to "set its own House in order" in West Bengal where the Left government was opening up to foreign investments, and promoting privatisation of services like water and electricity, whereas it was crying foul elsewhere, he said, referring to the land allotment to Tata company in Singur.
