Rajni as Lord Buddha, Krishna in cut-outs triggers protests

Coimbatore, Dec 13 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Pollachi near here today when Hindu actvists protested against Tamil super star Rajanikant's fans for putting up cut outs of their hero depicting him as Lord Buddha and pasting posters depicting him as Lord Krishna.

However, timely intervention of the police averted a major law and order situation.

Police said the hero's fans, as part of the star's 57th birthday celebrations, erected cut outs in the city depicting him as Lord Buddha and pasted posters depicting him as Lord Krishna.

Following this, various Hindu activists got agitated and protested strongly.

As the protests aggravated, it became evident that a clashbetween Rajani fans and Hindu activists would ensue.

The Hindu activists demanded that the posters and cut outs be removed. If not, they would resort to agitation until their demand was met.

Later today, after consultations between the police and the actor's fans, the posters and cut outs were removed, police added.
