Prime accused in arms seizure case filed discharge application
Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court today deferred the hearing of the discharge application filed by prime accused in the Aurangabad arms seizure case of May this year, to December 15.
Accused Mohammad Amir Shakeel Ahmed had filed a discharge application before MCOCA court last month praying that MCOCA is not applicable to him as the procedure adopted to book him under this strigent act is wrong.
The court then asked the prosecution to file their say to his Application. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) filed their reply today.
The ATS, in a joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May nine, had arrested three terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) near the Ghrushneshwar temple at Verul village and seized arms and ammunition from them after a hot chase of about 80 km.
After interrogating them, the ATS had arrested 13 more persons but later charges against three of them were dropped. ATS had, during September this year, filed chargesheet against them including Mohammed Amir Shakeel.
ATS had seized 16 AK47, 4000 live cartridges, 62 Magazine, 43 kg of RDX and 50 hand granades.
