One killed in group clash in Karnataka village

Chitradurga, Karnataka, Dec 13 (UNI) One person was killed and several others were injured when two groups clashed at Hotteppanahalli in this district, about 40 km from here, late last night.

Police said a long standing dispute between the two groups erupted over a trivial issue of a goat belonging to a person of one group grazing in the field of another. In the clash, one person succumbed to injuries, while the injured were admitted to the Government hospital in Challakere.

The situation remained tense, but under control, even as the body of the deceased, identified as Jagadeesh (35), was cremated today.

Police, with additional forces, was camping in the village. No one had been arrested so far, police added.
