Meghalaya govt awaits clerance from NEC on Power Transmission
Shillong, Dec 13 (UNI) Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Power Dr Donkupar Roy today told the Assembly that the delay in implementing the 132 KV D/C alternative line from Agia (Asom) to Nongal (Meghalaya) was due to government awaiting the scheme clearance from North eastern Council.
The transmission line from Agia to Nongal via Mendi was to improve the power supply in state's Garo Hills.
Replying to a query asked by Billykid A Sangma on the present status of 2x12.5 MW Ganol Hydel Power Project, Dr Roy said the detailed project is expected to be ready by March 2007.
On the 24 MW thermal project at Nongal, he informed said the government is exploring the feasibility of taking up this project with the North East Electric Power Corporation Ltd, for a 3x250 MW capacity due to unsatisfactory response from other parties.
