Lok Sabha pays homage to to securitymen killed in Parliament attack
New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today paid homage to the securitymen killed in attack on Parliament in 2001 and observed silence in their memory on the fifth anniversary of the tragic event.
Paying tribute to those killed, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said that "the act of heroism and unparalleled bravery of the security personnel calls for a renewed pledge for making all efforts to curb the menace of terrorism ...Let us rededicate ourselves once again, to protect the unity and integrity and sovereignty of the country.'' Five personnel of Delhi police, one lady constable of CRPF, two personnel of Parliament Watch and Ward were killed in the attack.
A CPWD gardener also lost his life and a journalist representing a TV channel also sucummbed to his injuries later on.
