International seminar to boost Indian handicraft exports

Bangalore, Dec 13 (UNI) A two-day international seminar on EU-India SHARE - 'Fair Trade, Quality improvement and Sustainable design network' - will be held here from December 15 to boost export of Indian handicrafts.

The seminar, organised by the Fair Trade Forum of India (FTFI) in association with the Fair Trade Original (FTO), Netherlands, and Traidcraft Exchange-United Kingdom, would facilitate Indian entrepreneurs and artisans to explore new markets across the world, with a special focus on the highly competitive European Union.

The seminar would cover aspects like networking, sharing information, linkages, facilitation, capacity building, creating opportunities for economically-disadvantaged producers, artisans, transparency and accountability, promoting fair trade, ideal working conditons, payment of fair wages, environment protection and protection of children's rights.

Besides FTA Program Executive Inge Optenberg and Traidcraft Exchange Senior Executive Helen Mccree, FTFI Founder-President K Panchaksharam, FTFI President Prof Shyam Sharma and delegates representing various fair trade organisations across the country would participate in the seminar.
