Huge stockpile of explosives found in Thane Dist

Thane, Dec 13 (UNI) The Anti-Extortion Cell of the Thane police have recovered a large stock of explosives from a hutment colony at Shilphata, near Mumbra, in the district and arrested one person in this connection, police said today.

Police said acting on a specific information, the AEC sleuths yesterday raided a locality, near Khardi in the district, where they apprehended Basavaraj Apparav Vale alias Shrimanta Sharanappa Patil, who led them to the hutment colony in Shilphata. There, they recovered 950 detonators, 160 gelatin sticks and 870 kg of ammonium nitrate powder.

The explosives are used for blasting, but Vale did not possess the license for storing or using them, police added.
