Haryana to build 1 lakh low cost houses in NCR
Chandigarh, Dec 13 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has directed the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to construct one lakh low cost houses to benefit the poor sections of the society in the National Capital Region falling in the state.
The Chief Minister, presiding over the 98th meeting of HUDA here, said that each such house having two rooms should be constructed at a cost of up to Rs one lakh.
Mr Hooda observed that it had become necessary to construct low cost houses for the poor in view of the escalating cost of land in the NCR. Shelter for the poor should not be beyond their reach, he added.
The Chief Minister, who is also Chairman of the Authority, said that the earmarked amount of Rs 770 crore to be spent during next three years for the development of the Gurgaon city should be spent within the scheduled period.
It was also informed during the meeting that Rs 425 crore had been spent on the execution of various developmental works at Gurgaon so far.
Mr Hooda directed that the disposal of files of HUDA should be made quickly and in a time bound manner to avoid the inconvenience being caused to the people.
He also directed that priority should be fixed for construction of buildings of schools and health institutions in the newly carved out sectors so as to ensure proper use of sites.
