Hansi-Butana canal to be completed within 18 months:Hooda

Chandigarh, Dec 13 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said Bhakra Main Line Hansi-Butana Multi-purpose canal would be completed within 18 months and the state would get nearly 2000 cusec of extra water to ensure sufficient water supply to agriculture sector.

Similarly, the construction work of Dadupur- Nalvi canal would also be completed within the stipulated period, he said while addressing a gathering at village Nuna Majra near Bahadurgarh after inaugurating a 220 KV sub-station constructed at a cost of Rs 46 crore by the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam.

He also inaugurated a 132 KV sub-station at Modern Industrial Estate, Bahadurgarh constructed at a cost of Rs 7.86 crore.

Mr Hooda said that the state was all set to add about 5000 MW of generating capacity during the next 30 months and the people of rural areas would get power for 20 to 22 hours daily after addition of this capacity. The problem of shortage of electricity could be resolved with the help of general public, he added.

Mr Hooda said the government has given highest priority to the sectors of power and irrigation, and law and order in the state.

He said the aim of his government was to ensure all round development of the rural areas by launching people friendly projects.

He pointed out that most of the previous Chief Ministers were not keen in setting up new power projects which resulted the present power problem. His government would complete construction of Yamuna Nagar Thermal Power Plant by February 2008 and after commissioning of this project the state would get 144 lakh units of extra electricity daily, he added.

On the occasion he declared the village Nuna Majra and Lova Majra as model villages. He directed the administration to ensure that all facilities are made available in the villages.
