Guo lifts second gold in women's sprint

DOHA, Dec 13 (Reuters) Guo Shuang took her second gold medal of the Asian Games today, winning an all-Chinese women's sprint final against Gong Jinjie.

Guo set times of 12.498 and 11.986 to add the sprint title to the 500m time trial gold she won on Saturday, keeping China at the top of the cycling medal charts along with powerhouse South Korea.

The 20-year-old said there was no problem racing a team mate in the final.

''Racing her didn't affect me. We don't train together,'' she said. ''We don't know each other because I train in Switzerland.'' Tsubasa Kiatsuru secured Japan's second title by winning the men's sprint gold medal race with South Korean newcomer Choi Lae-seon.

Kiatsuru clocked 10.882 on the deciding sprint to take the gold medal but admitted he had to fight for his victory against the 19-year-old.

''It was a very, very tough race,'' he told reporters. ''I had to work hard to win it.'' Choi said he was happy to settle for the silver in his first season on the track.

''The Japanese are very strong,'' he said. ''I'm happy to race, even if I lose. This is my first year of racing at this level.

This is my best result.'' Hong Kong's Cheung King Wai won his first major cycling title to take the men's points race gold medal.

The 21-year-old accrued 22 points over the 160-lap race, four clear of his nearest rival Vladimir Tuychiev, with Kazakhstan's Ilya Chernyshov taking the bronze medal.

Cheung's victory was Hong Kong's sixth gold medal of the Games and its second in cycling after Wong Kam Po's gold in the men's road race.

South Korea and China lead the track cycling gold medal table with three apiece.
