Five crore employees call nation-wide bandh tomorrow
New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) The number of employees for striking work in the nation-wide bandh tomorrow called by the Left parties is expected to be around 5-6 a crores leading Trade Union leader today claimed.
The nation-wide bandh tomorrow may bring the entire country to a standstill, Trade Unions, Sponsoring Committee secretary R A Mittal told UNI.
The Pan-Indian organisation for major trade unions across the country has AITUC, AICCTU, CITU, HMS, TUCC, IDBI, UTUC, UTUC-LS, federations of bank/insurance, Railways, Defence, Petroleum, Coal, Civil Aviation and others under its wings.
Mr Mital said that private transport companies had also expressed solidarity with them.
The Left had called the strike to press the government to accept its 16-point charter of demands including comprehensive legislation for the unorganised sector workers and a ban on outsourcing of jobs among others.
Bhartiya Majdoor Sangh and National Organisation of Bank Workers have, however, refused to join the strike.
