Felling of trees for helipad a mistake PWD EE

Kochi, Dec 13 (UNI) Kerala District Collector Mohammed Hanish today said the PWD Executive Engineer (EE) had admitted the mistake in felling trees for constructing a helipad for President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit here on December 19.

Earlier, the Collector asked for a show-cause notice from the Engineer following protests over the felling of trees for the helipad.

''The Engineer specified in a report that no direction was given to fell trees and it was a mistake on the part of the junior engineers,'' Mr Hanish said.

He said the report would be forwarded to the Chief Secretary for further action.
