Eastern Railway to play against UP Timber in Nargis final
Lucknow, Dec 13 (UNI) A fine bowling display by Eastern Railway bowlers mesmerised the rival Aligarh Cricket Club batswomen in their semifinal match of the 10th All India Nargis Dutt Memorial cricket championship here today.
In the semifinal, Eastern Railway beat Aligarh by 168 runs at BBD stadium, while in the other semifinal at the Northern Railway (NR) ground, UP Timber crushed UP Women cricket Club (UPWCC) by 163 runs.
The final of the tournament between UP Timber and Eastern Railway will be played tomorrow.
In the semifinal at BBD stadium, Railway bowlers dispatched the Aligarh within 22 overs at a modest total of 31, barring Naina Verma (16), who gave some resistance. Six other players returned without adding even a single run on the board.
Babu Shah claimed five wickets at the cost of only three runs, while Seema Desai and Kiranjeet claimed two and three wickets giving zero and three runs respectively.
Earlier, Railways had scored 199 runs for the loss of nine wickets, Seema Singh (31), Kavita Roy (2) Bobby Dutta (25) were the main scorers. Pooja claimed 2/20 and four of their players retired out.
At the N R stadium, UP Timber's Reena Singh stole the show against U P Women's cricket club team by scoring more than run a ball, hitting 71 runs in only 70 ball with the help of 7 boundaries.
Skipper Priyanka chipped in with 51 runs.
In reply, UPWCC team bundled out at 51 in 17.4 over lossing the match by 163 runs. Apoorva claimed 5/19 and Parul claimed three wickets giving away only one run.
