DSAM's diktat on two-wheeler students in Manipur
Imphal, Dec 13 (UNI) Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur has served a diktat to high school students banning them from using two-wheelers in Imphal with immediate effect.
The DSAM members in a joint drive have already seized 115 two-wheelers from school going students to ensure that they were serious about the latest '' do's and dont's'' for student community in Manipur.
Large number of students driving motor cycle at breakneck speed is a common sight in Manipur roads, making their life not only dangerously accident prone but also scaring the padestrians at large.
DSAM secretary general LC Santosh suggested the school authority and the teachers to ask their pupils not to use two-wheeler before attaining adulthood.
He said the drive against students on two-wheeler began on October last, was making good progress. However, there were some conflicts between the DSAM members and students, resulting in damage of vehicles in some cases, he added.
The DSAM, further demanded the Transport department to adhere to strict rules and regulations while issuing driving license.
