Disastrous show by Indian freestyle grapplers
Doha, Dec 13 (UNI) Indian freestyle grapplers gave a disastrous display as three of them made a disappointing exit from the Wrestling competition of the Asian Games here today.
Yogeshwar Dutt, Narasingh Yadav and Narender did no good to their reputation by caving in easily to their rivals.
In 60kg category, Yogeshwar lost both his bouts without putting up any resistance.
The 24-year-old Indian lost his first bout to Song Jae Myung 3-1.
The battle between the two grapplers was not very exciting but the Korean was superior in his technique and the Indian was not able to comprehend his rival's tactics.
Yogeshwar did try to garner points but the Korean was swift and agile and managed to wriggle out of Indian's hold.
Song earned two technical and three classification points as against the Indian's one point each.
In the 60kg repechage, Yogeshwar fared no batter and lost 0-3 to Qatar's Abdulqader Omar in a totally one-sided bout.
The Qatari was very menacing in his approach and Dutt tried to avoid a body contact with him but eventually failed. The grappler from Oman won the bout comprehensively earning eight technical and three classification points while the Indian failed to earn any.
It was the same story in the 74kg category in which Narasingh failed to put up any worthwhile challenge to Cho Byung Kwan of Korea and lost 1-3.
Yadav started promisingly but soon Cho took over and held the Indian in his stranglehold. Yadav tried to get out but failed and the Korean kept the pressure on and garnered points with ease to claim the bout collecting seven technical and three classification points. The Indian earned two and one points respectively.
In the repechage, Yadav again went down 1-3 to Abdulkhakim Shapiyev of Kazakhstan. The Indian tried to give a fight to his rival but failed as the Kazakh proved too smart for him.
Meanwhile, in the 96kg, Narender was outclassed in the two bouts he figured in. The 23-year-old Indian first lost to Iran's Alireza Heidari and then in repechage he was beaten by Kazakhstan's Taimuraz Tigiyev. He lost both the bouts by identical 0-3 margins.
Heidari did not let the Indian get any point while he himself earned five technical and three classification points in a one-sided bout.
Tigiyev thrashed Narender in the Repechage winning 10 technical and three classification points while the Indians failed to earn anything.
