Corruption drive against Badal not political vendetta: CM
Jalandhar, Dec 13 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today refuted the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP leadership's charges of political vendetta against his predecessor Parkash Singh Badal and his family stating that corruption would again be a poll issue for the Congress in the next state Assembly elections.
Talking to reporters at Khatkar Kalan in Nawanshahar district during his Vikas Yatra, Capt Singh said that prosecution of corruption tainted leaders and officials was his party's poll commitment to voters in the last Assembly elections. Therefore, by prosecuting Mr Badal and his family, the present government has simply been keeping its commitment and there was no question of political vendetta, he said.
The ruling Congress would not backtrack from its stand over the issue of corruption, Capt Singh added.
It may be recalled that the BJP-SAD leadership, including former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and BJP President Rajnath Singh, had condemned Capt Singh at a joint rally in Moga on December 8, for ''filing fake cases against Badal family out of political vendetta''.
