Cong-BJP polarisation must for UP's development: Rajiv Rudy
Varanasi, Dec 13 (UNI) Former union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today said the development of Uttar Pradesh was possible only if the state was politically polarised between Congress and BJP.
Also a BJP national executive member, Mr Rudy told newspersons here a state crowded with too many political outfits will not result in proper development. ''Rather, it is the Congress-BJP political polarisation, which will pave the way for the development.'' However, Mr Rudy claimed Congress was no longer a key player in Uttar Pradesh politics and its state unit was marred by internal condradictions.
''It is the BJP, which will form the next government in UP on its own, especially in wake of its 'stupendous' show in the local body poll,'' Mr Rudy added.
Reiterating the party's demand for President's rule in the state ahead of 2007 assembly election, Mr Rudy said free and fair poll was possible only under central rule. ''The law and order situation in UP is woeful and similar to that of Bihar during the 15-year Laloo-Rabri rule,'' Mr Rudy maintained.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Mr Rudy said while the UP party unit was in favour of central rule in UP, the UPA government through its minister of state for home Sriprakash Jaiswal has ruled out any possibility of the same.
