Bill on social security for unorganised sector soon: Oscar
New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes today assured the Lok Sabha that the government would try to introduce a Bill in the Budget session of Parliament for providing social security to those working in the unorganised sector.
Replying to a debate on the problems being faced by the unorganised labour under Rule 193, Mr Fernandes said the proposed comprehensive central legislation would be formulated after taking into account all the suggestions made by the members.
Meanwhile, the Centre was actively persuading the state governments, wherever necessary, to implement all the existing legal provisions, including the minimum wages Act, for protecting the interests of such labourers, he said.
As part of efforts to ensure that the work force had adequate skills to lead a decent life, 200 ITIs had been upgraded and another 300 ITIs were being covered in the next phase, he said.
