Battle royale in offing in fifth leg JK Tyre national racing

Chennai, Dec 13 (UNI) The fifth leg of the J K Tyre National Racing Championship for cars will be held over this weekend at the MMSC track at Irungattukottain near here with the qualifying races on December 16 and the finals the next day.

According to a press release, it will be an action packed edition with eight races scheduled for the penultimate leg of the championship. The six main races would be two each in three categories of Formula LGB Swift, Formula LGB Hyundai and Formula Rolon Chevrolet.

Gaurav Gill heads the championship table in the Formula Rolon class while Rayomand Banajee and Saran Vikram lead in the Formula LGB Hyundai and Formula LGB Swift categories, respectively.

In the Rolon category, it will be an interesting duel between the two Gauravs -Gaurav Gill of Team Wallace Sports, the leader with 57 points and Gaurav Dalal of Team Prime Racing with 49 points.

Veteran Akbar Ebrahim of Team NK Racing who returned to the track, is in third place with 36 points.

In the Formula LGB Swift class Saran Vikram of Team Wallace Sports has built up a comfortable lead over his nearest rivals. He has a tally of 71 points. It will be a battle royal with four racers fighting for the second and third places between Ajay Kini of Wallace Sports, Saahil Shelar of Rams Racing, Rajaram of Prime Racing and Ashwin Sunder who have 45, 44, 42 and 32 points, in that order.

Rayomand Banajee of Meco Racing is in command in Formula LGB Hyundai category with 75 points. Ajay Kini is in second place with 51 points, followed by C. Rajaram and Sudarshan Rao with 29 and 26 points, respectively.

Also in the reckoning for a championship podium finish are veteran Parasuram of Rams racing and promising youngster Ashwin Sunder of Meco Racing with 23 and 19 points, respectively.
