Sheep of BPL families to be insured in K'taka

Bangalore, Dec 12 (UNI) Karnataka Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Naik Belamagi today said Janashree, an insurance scheme for sheep raised by Below Poverty Line families, would be implemented from the month-end.

Talking to reporters here, he said BPL families would be eligible to insure ten sheep at a premium of Rs 67 annually. The beneficiaries would be contributing Rs ten for the policy. More than nine lakh sheep would be insured under the scheme and in case of death of a sheep, the beneficiary would get Rs 1,500, he added.
