Pathanamthitta, Kerala, Dec 12 (UNI) Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran today said the ongoing investigation into the large-scale land transactions in the State-- to find out whether 'foreign money' was involved in them-- would be expired.

The hectic buying and selling of land based on unimaginable value was going on with impunity, violating the existing rules and regulations draining the exchequer, he told reporters here.

He said joint probes by departments concerned had been launched.

Mr Rajendran admitted that illegal sand mining was rampant endangering major rivers despite the existence of stringent laws.

This was due to the laxity of officials at the implementation stage, he said and added that directives were sent to the district level committees constituted for monitoring sand-mining to be vigilant.

Hard measures would be initiated by the police and revenue official against those guilty.

The Government had asked the Advocate General to take steps to plug the loopholes in the relevant laws. He said the Government would check sternly the practice of underhand selling of leased Government land by the lessee.

The Revenue Minister launched a project, the first of its kind in the country, aimed at improving the service of the Collectorate and Revenue offices in the district to ISO-9001 and IS 15700 standards today. As part of the project, a 'wee conference system' connecting the Collectorate with Sabarimala Sannidhanam, Pampa, Taluk Headquaters and a few select village offices was commissioned by the Minister.
