Maoists threaten of more action if land acquisition not stopped
Kolkata, Dec 12 (UNI) Joining the Singur issue, purported underground Maoists have threatened stepped up ''actions'' in West Bengal if the Left Front Government did not stop acquiring agricultural land for setting up of industries.
In a communique, a spokesman of the COI (Marxist) said they were opposing allotment of farm land for Tata Motors' small car project at Singur in Hooghly district and acquisition for the proposed steel plant of the Sajjan Jindal Group in West Midnapore.
The communique owned responsibility for the seizure of the Tatanagar-Kharagpur passenger express at Kanimahuli station on West Bengal-Jharkhand border and said it was a ''symbolic'' protest against the acquisition of farm land at Singur.
''If the acquisition process is not stopped, our guerillas will go for more actions, which will not be symbolic,'' he said.
