IT industry calls CITU sponsored bandh an unwelcome move
Kolkata,Dec 12 (UNI) With team Buddha wooing investments for Bengal, IT industry calls the CITU sponsored bandh an unwelcome move, which will dampen the state's image.
Speaking to UNI over phone, NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik said, Industry like IT comes to standstill whenever there is a bandh.
Moreover, it does not send a good signal to the outside clients sitting in the UK or the US who works 24x7.
''In an industry like IT where needs of the employees are well taken care of, we do not need help of the outsiders. The industry will work as usual on that day,'' he said.
Reiterating the same point, Cognizant Technologies West Bengal CEO Siddhartha Mukherjee said, ''Be there any disruption or not, the strike would send a wrong signal to the industry. When we are trying to come out of our old image, the state faces yet another bandh. It is not only bad for the IT industry, but not good for the state also.'' TCS Senior Consultant R N Lahiri said, ''Bandh or no bandh, the IT industry means business as usual. A day's loss mean a lot to us.'' Meanwhile, IT Debesh Das has assured that this public utility service will work as usual and the government would see to it that there are no disruptions.
"We will provide escort services to the Sector V IT hub employees as we did in last Trinamool sponsored bandh. However, the employees are free to exercise their democratic right if they want to join the bandh. But if they want to work, there will be none to stop them," he said.
