Court asks jailed Soren's lawyer for details by Jan 25

Jamshedpur, Dec 12 (UNI) A local court P Srivastava here has asked the lawyers of incarcerated JMM supremo Shibu Soren to provide his personal secretary's murder case number and other details for production of the former in the court in a case of violation of election code of conduct in 1999.

The court of first class Judicial Magistrate P Srivastava yesterday ordered Mr Soren's lawyers to produce the details by January 25, 2007 to facilitate the court to issue a production warrant for Mr Soren, who is undergoing life imprisonment in Tihar jail.

Mr Soren was found guilty in a case on August 8, 1999 for violation of prohibitory order under section 144 CrPc and election code of conduct as he and his associates were celebrating by exibiting fire arms and firing in the air at Chamaria guest house to observe the death anniversary of the slain JMM leader Nirmal Mahto as Martyr's Day.

Executive Magistrate Anjani Kumar Mishra, who was present during the incident, lodged a case against Mr Soren and JMM MLAs Dulal Bhuiyan and Champai Soren at the Bistupur police station here.

Mr Bhuiyan is now state Land and Revenue Minister. Champai Soren had appeared before the court yesterday and sought for bail.
