Wholesale sugar

Mumbai, Dec 11 (UNI) Traders in wholesale sugar and metal exchanges observed a token bandh today as the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) called for a 'State-wide Bandh, to press their demand for abolishing Octroi in the state.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is earning more than Rs 2500 crore per annum by way of Octroi. Maharashtra is one the few states where octroi still continued, the member said adding that most of the other states in the country has already abolished Octroi, according to a release.
