URSRTC to run 3,000 buses during Ardh Kumbh Mela

Allahabad, Dec 11 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is going to run 3,000 buses during the Ardh Kumbh Mela beginning here from January next year.

UPSRTC Additional Managing Director D K Gupta, who was in the holy city in connection with the preparation of his department for the Mela, said the buses would ply from four temporary bus stations at Jhushi, K P Inter College, Naini and Arail.

Mr Gupta added that the first phase would begin from January 3, 2007 -- the first bathing during the Mela, in which 2,320 buses would run, while 680 more buses would be added in the fleet by January 14 -- the second most important bathing of the month-long Ardh Kumbh.

Expressing satisfaction on the preparations made by the department, he said the UPSRTC had already started city bus services on some important routes in the city.
