New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) The Supreme Court today pulled up Mulayam Singh Yadav government for dropping the departmental proceedings against former Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Neera Yadav for her alleged involvement in the bungling of land allotment during her tenure as head of New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA).

A bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat, C K Thakker and Lokeshwar Singh Panta, adjourning the hearing till January next year, wanted to know from the government as to how and under what circumstances the departmental proceedings were dropped against the senior IAS officer, who is presently posted as member of UP Revenue Board.

Neera Yadav is facing a corruption case under the Prevention of Corruption Act for amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income and was removed as UP Chief Secretary after the scandal came to light.

Regarding the issue of sanction in corruption cases, Justice Pasayat made it clear that the court had already settled the issue in the Prakash Singh Badal case in which it was held that corruption cases do not require sanction from the competent authourities.
