Prisoners body found hanging in Pathankot hotel

Pathankot, Dec 11 (UNI) A prisoner, who was absconding after being sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his brother-in-law, was found hanging in a local hotel this morning, police here said.

Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Ajnala who was absconding from Amritsar Jail, was found dead in Shikha hotel.He was identified by his wife Renu Bala.

Sanjeev had murdered his brother-in-law five year ago and was subsequently arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. He had escaped from Amritsar sometime back while he was being taken to the judicial courts for a legal hearing.

A waiter of the hotel reported the matter to the police. The police are investigating the matter.
